Super-cute picture of me & a guy I'd been seeing for the past month or so, having drinks at Aroma Bar in Cleveland Park... right before we got into a massive, messy fight & he stormed out of my apartment at 5 a.m.
He moves next week, & I probably won't see him before he leaves. This picture was the calm before the storm, I suppose.
I suck.

JIMMY EAT WORLD SHOW! Truly one of the best events of my life. More on it here... it was incredible.

My boss, who works a gabillion hours a week, took what I can only assume was a much-needed 15-minute nap at his desk on Friday. And lest you think he's just a bum & my office is TOO low-key, I should reinforce the fact that my boss is a workaholic. I think this pic is great, especially because when I accidentally woke him, he groggily asked, "Is today done?" or something amusing to that effect. (And no, today wasn't.)

This little Post-It was stuck to the bedside table at the side of the bed(imagine that) that I slept in this weekend while I house-sat. In case you can't read it, it says, "No longer on the novelty list: cookies, ice cream, tzatziki, applesauce, clementines, dad's bread, pita, choc. chips."
I have no idea what "the novelty list" is, but this seemed like an interesting conglomeration of edibles to be on any list together. It made me smile each of the three nights I fell asleep there. Something about it just seemed very quirky.

I spent Sunday afternoon at a local synagogue, where three rotations of more than 700 high schoolers from across the country (I met kids from Alaska & Hawaii, even!) got together to package kosher meals for a food bank in New York City. I don't normally like mass Jewish events because I still feel excluded & foreign, but this was a cool event to watch happen. The kids were really joyful, excited to there, happy to work together - they were singing, dancing, laughing, & just glad to helping out.

A frame I made. A photo I love. For more, read here.

Someone on my floor has apparently been smoking somewhere nearby (in the hallway, maybe?), which seeps into my apartment & makes my teeny tiny place smell like smoke. To combat it, I've been creating my own smoke by lighting incense. I don't know what scent the incense is because I got it for free from Antonio, the homeless man who used to stay on the street in my neighborhood. I got him some dinner one day & he gave me this package of incense that a friend of his had given him - it had gotten wet, so the friend could no longer sell them, so he'd given Antonio lots & lots of it. Antonio was trying to dry it out to sell it, but in the meantime, he gave me a whole packet.
I haven't seen Antonio in a very, very long time & knowing some of his health problems, I worry that he he's passed away. But every time I pass his spot on Connecticut Ave. or light this incense, I think of him fondly & hope I'm wrong & that he's someplace living a better life.
PS: Don't make fun of my book collection.
PPS: Or my ghetto incense burner.

A couple of my friends on our way home from "He's Just Not That Into You" at Union Station, the most ghetto-fab theater on the planet. On our walk there, we legit saw a drug deal - like, baggie, money, exchange, walk away. CRAZY. I like this picture mainly because the guy next to them is catching Z's in it.
